Este săptămâna Paștelui în Ierusalim, iar orașul este asaltat de pelegrini. O perioadă tensionată pentru cei care trebuie să păstreze ordinea, iar sosirea în cetate a lui Iisus din Galilea creează mare agitație. Romanii lui Pontius Pilat și preoții lui Caiafa sunt foarte neliniștiți. Iisus vine călare pe un măgar și intră în cetate pe poarta estică, împlinind astfel două dintre profețiile legate de venirea lui Mesia. Pentru grupul de discipoli ai lui Iisus, acesta este momentul pe care îl așteptau de ani de zile, dar niciunul nu știe cât de important va fi cu adevărat.
