Birbirine kin besleyen iki aile arasında, uzun seneler önce kapanan defter yeniden açılıyor. Karacanlar ailesinin küçük oğlu Abdi, bir kaza sonucu kardeşini vurmuştur. Fakat suçu Akbaşlar ailesinin oğlu Yusuf’un üstüne atar. Bu iftira sonucu Yusuf köyden uzaklaştırarak, şehre okumaya gönderilir. Arada geçen sürede Karacanlar köyde maddi manevi hakimiyet kurarlar, kimseye göz açtırmadan zenginleşirler. Yıllar sonra Yusuf genç bir öğretmen olarak köyüne geri dönünce, eski hesaplar tekrar açılır.
