Paris, 1991. A verdadeira história de Frank Magne, um jovem inspetor que começa no Departamento de Investigação Criminal do número 36 de Quai des Orfebres, na Brigada Criminal. Seu primeiro caso envolve a morte de uma jovem. Sua investigação o leva a estudar casos semelhantes, sendo que ele é o único que os relaciona entre si. Rapidamente se vê diante da realidade do trabalho de investigação policial: falta de equipamento, burocracia... Durante 8 anos, obcecado por esta investigação, correrá atrás de um serial killer que ninguém mais acredita que existe.
