Kenneth Zevo (Donald O'Connor) construiu uma brilhante fábrica de brinquedos, contrariando a vontade de seu pai militar. Quando percebe que está morrendo Kenneth fica inseguro de deixar seu patrimônio para seus filhos adultos, Leslie (Robin Williams) e Alsatia (Joan Cusack), que são ótimos para criar e testar novos brinquedos mas incapazes de gerir a parte administrativa da empresa. Na tentativa de resolver o problema Kenneth chama seu irmão militar, Leland (Michael Gambon), para gerir a empresa. Só que Leland aos poucos transforma a fábrica de brinquedos em uma indústria de jogos e armas militares de verdade, fazendo com que Leslie tenha que enfrentar o tio.
