Tin Pang
Tin Pang is an award-winning film and television director, known for crafting diverse stories that reflect contemporary Australia, informed by his experiences growing up as an Asian-Australian. With works ranging from irreverent comedy to intimate drama, he has a strong focus on performance and the portrayal of unique characters. His short films, The Pale Moonlight and Mother, Child have screened at festivals across the globe, including MIFF, Flickerfest, St Kilda, World-Fest Houston, HollyShorts and Fantasia. In 2017, Mother, Child received the ATOM Award for Best Short Fiction and a Silver Remi Award at World-Fest Houston. That same year, Tin was invited to attend MIFF’s Accelerator Lab for emerging talent. In 2018, Tin completed a Director’s Attachment with director Catherine Millar on A Place To Call Home (Foxtel). In 2021, Tin was selected as one of five directors to take part in the Equity Foundation’s Screen Diversity Showcase, resulting in the short film, Radical Honesty. The film went on to screen at Peninsula, Gold Coast, Heart of Gold and Short Com film festivals. Since 2017, Tin has worked as an Assistant Director on productions including Ladies In Black, Home and Away (Seven), Totally Completely Fine (Stan), Last King Of The Cross (Paramount+) and The Artful Dodger (Disney+) to name a few. In 2022, Tin began working as a Director on Home and Away after completing a Director’s Attachment with director Ian Watson. With his extensive on-set experience, eye for authentic storytelling and passion for working with actors, Tin celebrates a wholistic and collaborative approach to navigating the filmmaking process. Tin is actively developing a number of original projects, including a television dramedy series that explores diversity representation, and a romantic comedy feature.
