עלילה מספרת על טכנאי רכבות ותיק ומנוסה ביותר שעומד בפני פיטורין בעקבות קיצוצים בחברה שלו, ועל הטכנאי החדש שצמוד אליו ומיועד להחליפו. השניים מוצאים את עצמם במירוץ כנגד הזמן על רכבת משא לא מאוישת ובאורך של כמעט קילומטר, הנושאת עליה מספיק נוזלים דליקים וגז רעיל שיספיק למחוק לגמרי את העיר הקרובה.
